AP Accountant

Department: Finance

Reports to: Director, Financial Reporting

Purpose of the Job

As a successful candidate, you are resourceful in dealing with issues, interact effectively in a team environment and have skills in building professional relationships with employees across the organization and external vendors. Compute, classify, and record numerical data to keep financial records complete. Perform any combination of routine calculating, posting, and verifying duties to obtain primary financial data for use in maintaining accounting records. You may also check the accuracy of figures, calculations, and postings pertaining to business transactions recorded by other workers.

Duties and Essential Job Functions

  • Operate computers programmed with accounting software to record, store, and analyze information.
  • Check figures, postings, and documents for correct entry, mathematical accuracy, and proper codes.
  • Coding and processing of invoices and payments.
  • Reconcile monthly vendor statements.
  • Assist with month-end review of A/P.
  • Receive, record, and bank cash, checks, and vouchers.
  • Month end accruals.
  • Answering vendor queries via email and/or by phone.
  • Comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations.

Education and Experience

The ideal candidate will have excellent attention to details and organizational skills, be flexible and able to manage multiple tasks, and possess strong problem-solving abilities.

  • Degree in Accounting or similar, and 2+ years of experience in an accounts payable role
  • Strong computer skills with MS Excel

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience with Syteline or other ERP system

Work Environment

Location: Sugar Land, Texas Legally able to work in USA
